Thematic Focus:

Seventh session of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals deals with:

-         Sustainable cities and human settlements, sustainable transport

-         Sustainable consumption and production (including chemicals and waste)

-         Climate change and disaster risk reduction

All these issues require strong engagement and participation of broader public. The challenge for OWG process and SDGs implementation efforts is to find innovative conceptual frameworks and concrete tools, that connect all relevant stakeholders with universal global sustainability goals and inspire and incentivize collaborative action for the local and global public good.

  2. Highlighting the potentials of Foresight processes and Collaborative Intelligence tools for identification of Sustainable development potentials on local/city level and formulation of individual city level SDGs Challenges;
  3. Presenting “Global Challenges World Cup – Urban Games” - Competitions and Games among cities as incentives for resource mobilization for sustainable development;
  4. Outlining a Global Challenges ICT Knowledge and Technology Hub Klagenfurt (Austria, Central Europe) which shall help to address the need for Information and Communication Technologies Research and Technology Development for Connecting Cities and Citizens with Global SDGs Governance

GloCha (standing for Global Challenges) is a transinstitutional Global Action Network – a Multistakeholder Partnership in United Nations terms - based on the conviction and ethics that every Global Citizen can and shall contribute to sustainable development on local and global level and thus to goals of United Nations system.

GloCha is a brain child of International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenges www.glocha.info, an UN ECOSOC and UN DPI accredited Civil Society Organization based in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee (Austria).

GloCha System’s functional logic aims at steering/incentivizing billions of decentral and selforganized decision making processes on resource use of global citizens and local communities/cities towards optimal provision of global public goods worldwide for present and future generations (= Sustainable Development Goals!).

Although officially not part of United Nations system, GloCha system’s ambition is to serve as a central knowledge and transaction platform for civil society/youth engagement in UN system and driver of UN System Innovation towards more effectiveness and global citizen participation and to become one day an integral part of a global citizen focused renewed and invigorated UN system.
